Julian Somers (born 12th November 1903 in London, died 11th November 1976 also in London) appeared in Coronation Street in May 1963 as a Ministry of Pensions Supervisor and in June 1971 as Community Centre chairman Arnold Sheppard.

He had a long career in films and television, making appearances on the latter medium in some of the BBC's earliest broadcasts from Alexandra Palace in the late 1930s. In the 1950s he had small parts in famous films such as The Battle of the River Plate, A Night to Remember, Room at the Top, Far From The Madding Crowd and had parts in many popular television series such as The Adventures of Robin Hood, Armchair Theatre, Knight Errant Limited, Skyport, The Avengers, The Plane Makers, Dr. Finlay's Casebook, Crossroads, Danger Man, The Troubleshooters, Crown Court, Pardon My Genie, Van Der Valk and various roles in No Hiding Place (co-starring Johnny Briggs) and Z Cars. He had a regular role in the mid 1960s science fiction serial Object Z, its sequel Object Z Returns and the late 1960s BBC soap The Newcomers.

His stage roles include parts in Love’s Labour’s Lost, Henry V, As You Like It, Macbeth, The Tempest, The Doctor in Bean Street, Jonathan, Hanging Judge, Romanoff and Juliet, Breaking Point, Night Conspirators, The Representative, The Rose and The Ring, Design For Living, An Ideal Husband, The Provok’d Wife, The Late Christopher Bean, An Enemy of the People and The Circle.
