Julian Cooper was a solicitor friend of Paula Martin who joined her for a meal at Speed Daal one afternoon in November 2018. Paula's girlfriend Sophie Webster soon took a disliking to Julian, believing him to be a snob, but Paula informed Sophie that she was only with as he was able to track down confidential information that Duncan Radfield had bought the burner phones that he had used to make Sophie's mother Sally Metcalfe look guilty of fraud.
When Sophie decided to rejoin the pair she soon learnt that she had judged Julian too quickly.
