Changes: Judge Alderman

Judge Alderman presided over the Weatherfield Courts of Justice in 2007, when Tracy Barlow appeared twice - formally charged with the murder of boyfriend Charlie Stubbs.

At the preliminary hearing in February, Judge Alderman ruled in favour of both David Platt being allowed to take the stand as a witness, and Claire Peacock's diary evidence to be admissible at trial. However, she denied Tracy's application for Legal Aid in order to change her legal representation from Derek Anderson (of Anderson & Fitch Solicitors) to Jayne Simon (of Simon & Renshaw Solicitors), as she couldn't see that Anderson & Fitch had been derelict in their duty in any way, and the work that had already been carried out for their client was more than adequate for fair representation.

During the subsequent trial, the Foreman of the jury declared that they had found the defendant guilty. Judge Alderman told the court that the charge carried a mandatory sentence of life imprisonment and after hearing submissions from the defence and prosecution, she recommended that Tracy should serve a minimum of fifteen years in prison before being eligible for parole.

Judge Alderman was played by Sara Roache who was the real-life wife of William Roache, who plays Tracy's on-screen stepfather Ken Barlow.
