Joy Blakeman appeared on Coronation Street in five roles:
- Marie Ramsden, mother of toddler Jamie, who was involved in a custody battle for her son who she had previously abandoned. Helped in her quest for accommodation by Don Brennan, she appeared between February and December 1990
- Jayne Reid, a nurse at the rape centre where Toyah Battersby was taken after she was attacked in April 2001
- Mel Hornsey, a crisis worker at the St. Martha's Centre, who dealt with Carla Connor following her own rape ordeal in September 2011
- Amanda Dewhurst, a specialist nurse who came to observe Max Turner at his home and school in September 2014
- Karis Jansen, a restorative justice charity facilitator, who was involved in arranging Sam Blakeman's visit with Harvey Gaskell inside Highfield Prison in November 2022.
She graduated from RADA in 1987.
Her other credits include roles in El C.I.D, The Bill, Doctors, Holby City, EastEnders, Casualty, Hollyoaks and Emmerdale, along with the films Dancin' Thru the Dark and The Long Day Closes.
On stage, she appeared in productions of Private Lives, Gaslight, The Devil's Disciple and The Merchant of Venice.
