Jowanna Rose (born July 1971) appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly making intermittent appearances between July 2005 and May 2012 in the role of DC Merrick; and she returned to the programme making intermittent appearances between August 2019 and February 2025 as a Weatherfield General-based doctor.
She graduated from Bretton Hall College in 1993 with a BA (Hons) in Theatre Arts.
Her other credits include roles in Always and Everyone, The Forsyte Saga, Donovan, Sea of Souls, See No Evil: The Moors Murders and Hollyoaks, along with the films 1921 and The Drowning of Arthur Braxton.
On stage, she appeared in productions of Face to Face, The Pleasure Dome, Poor Ted, The Merchant of Venice, Get a Life, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Mouse and his Child, The True Story of the Three Pigs, Rosie's Walk, Out of the Blue, Sun Stories, Macbeth, Still Seeking, Are We There Yet?, Broken, Georgie's Story, Kes, Arabeska, Veil, Dancehall, '5 A Day', Public Relations, Gideon Klein: Portrait of a Composer, All Geared Up and Through the Wardrobe, along with the one-woman show Me, You & Godzilla Too.
