Johnny Hammond (born "Hugh Cecil Hammond" on 16th November 1927 in Hartlepool, died 22nd July 2007 in Southport) appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly in October 1981 as a nightwatchman in a Hartlepool factory that folded when doing business with Baldwin's Casuals; and he returned to the programme in March 1985 as Tommy Figg, an old friend of Bet Lynch.
His main occupation after service in World War II was as comedian and he was a winner of talent show New Faces in 1976. He subsequently appeared for Granada Television in The Comedians and The Jim Davidson Show as well as writing material for the latter and Hale and Pace and Roy "Chubby" Brown, and performing several times at the London Palladium and on stage in Las Vegas.
