John McDowell Malcolm (born 26th March 1936 in Stirling, Scotland; died 13th June 2008 in Edinburgh) appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly in April 1972 as Mark Brittain Warehouse storeman, George Harrop; and he returned to the programme in June 1981 as Frank Pritchard, a prospective Rovers' cellarman, interviewed by Annie Walker.

Leaving school at the age of sixteen, he trained as a Methodist lay preacher before gaining a scholarship to RADA and was the founding member of both the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh and The Theatre, Chipping Norton.

His other television credits included roles in Crossroads, The Wars of the Roses, The Government Inspector, Dixon of Dock Green, The First Lady, Parkin's Patch, Z Cars, The Misfit, Emmerdale Farm, Golden Hill, When the Boat Comes In, The Law Centre, Enemy at the Door, Our John Willie, Together, Codename Icarus, The Chinese Detective, Reilly: Ace of Spies, War and Remembrance and Wokenwell.

Film roles included The Reckoning, The House That Dripped Blood, The Ragman's Daughter, Dirty Money and Utu.

On stage, he appeared in productions of Henry IV, Henry V, Richard III, Edward IV, Puntila and Wednesday Night Action for the Royal Shakespeare Company. Other works include The Government Inspector, Strife, Message from the Grassroots, Barefoot in the Park and Loot.
