John Boxer (born 25th April 1909 in Hackney, London; died 22nd August 1982 in Brighton) appeared on Coronation Street in September 1970 as Salvation Army worker Major Parrett.

His career began in the 1930s with roles in films such as George and Margaret, In Which We Serve, The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, The Way Ahead and Waterloo Road.

Television work began in 1939 with the BBC's pre-war service from Alexandra Palace and continued when the service restarted after 1946. On the small screen, he appeared in Fabian of the Yard, Into The Net, Dixon of Dock Green, No Hiding Place, Honey Lane, The Newcomers, The Onedin Line and The Life and Times of David Lloyd George. His last role was as a reporter in the 1982 Oscar winning biopic Ghandi.

On stage, he appeared in productions of Black Coffee, The Young Idea, Britannia of Billingsgate, Escape Me Never, The Wind and Rain, George and Margaret, The White Carnation, Any Other Business, Mister Johnson and The Case In Question.
