John Bailey (born 26th June 1912 in Lewisham, London; died 11th February 1989 in Chelsea, London) appeared on Coronation Street in November 1969 as Doctor Grant, who treated Ray Langton after the Lake District coach crash.

He worked in television from the start of the BBC's regular service in 1936, appearing in their very first drama production, Scenes from the play "Marigold" broadcast on Friday 6th November that year from Alexandra Palace, just five days after the commencement of transmissions.

He also appeared in The Granville Melodramas, Destination Downing Street, No Hiding Place, The Avengers, Doctor Who, Emergency-Ward 10, Mr. John Jorrocks, Quick Before They Catch Us, Softly Softly, The Forsyte Saga, Nicholas Nickleby, Special Branch and Holocaust.

Film roles included The Franchise Affair, The Hostage, Rasputin: The Mad Monk and Personal Services.

On stage, he appeared in productions of Miracle at Verdun, The Enchanted Cottage, Macbeth, Julius Caesar, The Late Christopher Bean, Treasure Island, The Apple Cart, The Silver King, Murder at Quay Cottage, Gaslight, The Importance of Being Earnest, Don Juan, Antigone and Venice Preserv'd.
