Joanna Swain appeared on Coronation Street in three roles:
- Mrs Oldred, an irate customer of builder, Pat Hegherty in January 2000
- Nurse Shaw who informed colleague, Martin Platt that his stepdaughter, Sarah had been admitted to Weatherfield General the previous evening following a road traffic accident in October 2002
- An adoption co-ordinator whose meetings were attended by Marcus Dent and Sean Tully in September 2011, and by Gary Windass and Izzy Armstrong in August 2012.
Her other television credits include roles in Stay Lucky, Body & Soul, All Quiet on the Preston Front, Heartbeat, My Wonderful Life, Emmerdale, Cold Feet, The Royal, No Angels, The Innocence Project, The Royal Today, Shameless, South Riding, This is England '88, Prisoners Wives, Waterloo Road and Good Cop.
Film roles include The Full Monty, The Tichborne Claimant, The Darkest Light and Control.
On stage, she appeared in touring productions of both King John and The Merry Wives of Windsor.
