Joanna Lumley OBE (born 1st May, 1946) is a British actress who achieved great national fame throughout her career for roles in such television shows as The New Avengers, Sapphire And Steel and Absolutely Fabulous. She was a "Bond girl" in the 1969 film On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and appeared for a short period on Coronation Street in 1973, playing Ken Barlow's girlfriend Elaine Perkins.
Joanna's other credits include Are You Being Served?, Lovejoy and Agatha Christie's Marple. She was awarded the OBE in 1995.
In 1994, she appeared in the documentary series Girl Friday, in which she spent nine days stranded on a desert island. She famously made a pair of shoes out of her bra, as she was beginning to get trench foot.
In 2016, she appeared as Patsy Stone in a big screen version of the comedy series Absolutely Fabulous entitled Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie.
