Joanna Foster (born 1957 in Lambeth, London) appeared on Coronation Street between January and February 2001 as Susan Barlow, the fourth and final actress to appear in the role before the character was killed off-screen in a car accident.
She trained at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, and as a singer, she performed pieces by Brecht and formed an a cappella group with singer Venice Manley and was a member of the group Beskydy who play music from the Balkans.
Best known for her role of Ginny Davenport in Family Affairs from 2002 to 2003, her other credits include roles in Testament of Youth, Flickers, West Country Tales, Blind Justice, Casualty, Love and Reason, The Bill, Brotherly Love and The Borgias.
On stage, she appeared in productions of Macbeth, King Lear, Much Ado About Nothing, Moliere, Heavy Days and Silence on My Radio for the Royal Shakespeare Company. Other works include Worm's Eye View, The Servant of Two Masters, The Eve of Saint Venus, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Measure for Measure, Love for Love, The Threepenny Opera, The Merchant of Venice, The Lady from the Sea, The Yiddish Trojan Woman and The Dead Fiddler.
She is the daughter of the late actor, Barry Foster - famous for Van der Valk and sister of actress, Miranda Foster.
