Jimmy Dagnall was the obnoxious son of Maeve, a customer of Speed Daal who made a difficult day there considerably worse.

Maeve had made a booking of twelve to celebrate a golden wedding, even though it was made just the day before as another venue cancelled on the Dagnall family. Desperate for the business after the COVID-19 pandemic, Alya Nazir accepted the booking and was put out when only three people arrived: Jimmy, Maeve and her elderly mother. With few apologies, Maeve told them that her sister and her brood weren't coming as they were expecting the delivery of a parcel, and her own husband claimed that he was stuck in work. Moreover, there was no actual anniversary to celebrate as her father had died twenty years ago but they still liked to mark the occasion.

Maeve wasn't happy when she discovered the eatery was alcohol-free, nor at the reduced choice of menu items due to delivery problems. Jimmy compounded the problems as he owned three tarantula spiders - Larry, Curly and Moe - and had brought the first of these three stooges along with him in his rucksack to the restaurant. The creature escaped from its Tupperware box and wasn't long before two customers screamed at the sight, but the Dagnalls were unconcerned: Maeve and her mother refused to help recapture the creature as they happily eat their food, and Jimmy was in the toilet while reading his comic. When he eventually returned and tried to find Larry, his mother and gran carried on nonchalantly eating their meal while Jimmy, taking lessons in tact and diplomacy from his mother, threatened to sue if his pet was lost and was outraged that there was no sign at the entrance saying that pets weren't allowed. He eventually enticed Larry out with a promise of a grasshopper and a beetle to eat while Maeve laughed at Elaine Jones's attempts to make them pay for the lost custom caused by other fleeing customers, and commented that this had happened before, especially in JD Sports.
