Jim O'Hanlon (born 3rd November, 1970 in Dublin) started his Coronation Street career as a storyliner (then termed a "story associate") for 252 episodes in seven stints from January 1997 to July 1998.

During this period, he was also a story editor for 16 episodes from May 1998 to July 1998.

He then wrote one episode - Episode 4460 (23rd August 1998) - of Coronation Street. He moved on to become one of the programme's directors with 26 episodes to his credit from July 1998 to March 1999, three with Michael Kerrigan. Uniquely, he is the only person who has both written for and directed the programme.

He has also directed episodes of Casualty, Bad Girls, Wild At Heart, Shameless, Quirke, A Touch Of Cloth, In the Flesh and Chasing Shadows.
