Jill Halfpenny was born 15th July 1975 in Newcastle. She is an English actress who played nurse Rebecca Hopkins in Coronation Street between December 1999 and December 2000. Prior to Coronation Street she played Nicola in Byker Grove as a teenager and Kelly in Peak Practice. Subsequent to her stint on the Street her most high-profile roles have been as Kate Morton in EastEnders and Izzie Redpath in Waterloo Road, but she achieved most publicity as the winner of Strictly Come Dancing in 2004.
A second Coronation Street connection came when Halfpenny narrated the short Argos sponsor bumpers for the programme between January 2021 and April 2023.
