Jennie McAlpine

Jennie McAlpine

Jennie McAlpine was born on 12th February 1984 and brought up in Bury. Her parents divorced when she was a child but she was encouraged to take up acting by her father, Tom, and she made her debut alongside her older brother (also called Tom) in pantomime.

When she was thirteen she reached the finals of the Young Comedian of the Year competition and made her television debut in Emmerdale in 1999.

In early 2001 she was contracted to appear in Coronation Street as troublesome foster child Fiz Brown and she made her debut in five episodes commencing with Episode 5022/3 on 20th April. In tried and tested Street style, she made such an impact that she was given a contract as a regular and reappeared in August of the same year from Episode 5089 onwards with, eventually, a screen family of mother Cilla Brown and brother Chesney Brown being built around her character.

In July 2008, Jennie was one of several cast members who flew to South Africa to take part in the special DVD Coronation Street: Out of Africa. On 11th September 2010 she and her family appeared on All Star Family Fortunes. Three months later, she took part in Coronation Street's live episode (Episode 7487) to celebrate the show's 50th anniversary. In doing so, she became the first actress to act out a birth live on a soap.
