Jean Heywood (born "Jean Murray" on 15th July 1921 in Blyth, Northumberland, died 14th September 2019 in East Sussex) appeared on Coronation Street between March and April 1983 as widow Alice Kirby.

She also appeared as Dolly McGregor in all twenty-six episodes of the Street spin-off comedy series The Brothers McGregor from 1985 to 1988.

Her other credits included roles in Dixon of Dock Green, Second City Firsts, Marked Personal, When the Boat Comes In, Emmerdale Farm, Leave It to Charlie, Horace, A Family Man, Cover Her Face, Yesterday's Dreams, The Ruth Rendell Mysteries, The Franchise Affair, Casualty, Freddie and Max, All Creatures Great and Small, Specials, The Bill, The Glass Virgin, Harry's Mad, Kavanagh QC, Peak Practice, Heartbeat, Family Affairs, Where the Heart Is, Brookside, Bernard's Watch and Married Single Other, along with the feature films Il mio West and Billy Elliot.

On stage, she appeared in productions of Photo Finish, Born Yesterday, Pygmalion, The Hot Tiara, Murder in the Cathedral, Goodnight Mrs Puffin, The Confederacy, An Ideal Husband, The Happiest Days of Your Life, Doctor Faustus, Alfred Keeps The Key, The Princess and the Swineherd, Harlequinade, The Winslow Boy and You Never Can Tell for the Farnham Repertory Company, The Plotters of Cabbage Patch Corner, Dead Centre of the Midlands? A Load of Worcester Sauce and The Boy Friend for Worcester Repertory Company. Other works included Forget-Me-Not Lane, Signs of the Times, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Rose and The Father.
