Plot
Leonard Swindley gets himself involved with a married woman and her jealous husband at Dobson and Hawks' January sales. It all starts when Swindley sells Wally Hunt's wife's £75 fur coat (which he was taking to the furriers for shortening) for £4 19s 6d in the bargain basement. Swindley attempts to get it back. He finally traces the coat to one of the store's assistants, Miss Huxley, but unfortunately for Swindley she has a very large jealous husband who misunderstands what Swindley is after. After the encounter Swindley finds he has no permanent injury, just a lot of bruises. At the least the coat has been returned but Swindley's troubles are not over as Hunt discovers that his raincoat, left to dry on a storeroom radiator, has also been sold in the sale...

Notes
- Miss Huxley's real name was Mrs Knight, married to Australian bodybuilder Jim Knight but she was known at the store under her maiden name as she was a window-dresser and therefore considered herself an "artiste".
- This episode was billed in the 1966 TV Times as "January Sale" but "The January Sale" on the 2009 DVD release.
- This episode was transmitted on Thursday 20th January by both Border Television and Television Wales and the West (at 7.30pm and 10.10pm respectively) and on Friday 21st January at 9.10pm by Scottish Television. Along with the rest of the second season the episode was not transmitted by Westward Television, Ulster Television, Channel Television or the Teledu Cymru service of Television Wales and the West. Tyne Tees Television also failed to transmit this episode.
