Jane Danson

Jane Danson

Jane Danson (born Jane Elizabeth Dawson, 8th November 1978 in Bury) has appeared as Leanne Battersby on Coronation Street from July 1997 to August 2000 and from June 2004 onwards. She initially auditioned for the role of Zoe Tattersall. Other television roles have included PC Gemma Osbourne in The Bill, Monica Jones in The Grand, and Eileen Critchley in Alan Bleasdale's G.B.H., which was her TV debut in 1991 (under the name of Jane Dawson). Another early TV appearance was in Children’s Ward.

Jane appeared in the second series of Soapstar Superstar, as did Tupele Dorgu and Antony Cotton (who won). She was eliminated from the first public vote, where she was up against Tupele, despite neither of them actually being in that night's bottom two. After a subsequent Ofcom investigation, ITV1 aired a summary of their findings before Coronation Street on 2nd June 2008.

She has two children with husband and fellow Street star Robert Beck.
