Jan was the girlfriend of Robert Preston.
Following the death of his previous girlfriend Catherine, Robert fell into a deep depression but was eventually able to better himself and later found himself entering into a relationship with Jan. Jan and Robert's relationship lasted for around five years before ending suddenly in the early 1990s. Robert then relocated to London and eventually began a relationship with Tracy Barlow in 1996, however his parents Maurice and Shirley Preston were sceptical about his new relation and feared that he was still on the rebound from Jan.
