Jack was a drinker at the Rovers Return whom Billy Walker tried to hurry along so that he could close the pub and start a private after-hours drinking party with Ken Barlow and Len Fairclough in July 1974. Jack had just started his pint and remarked that Billy was being quick off the mark. Billy suggested that he might enjoy the warm breeze coming in off the Salford docks and his missus lying waiting in the moonlight, but Bet Lynch thought this more likely to put him off going home.
- Jack was played by Bill Waddington, nine years before he joined the regular cast as Percy Sugden in the second of four guest roles prior to taking that part.
