Jacinta was a lawyer who worked for a chambers in Manchester and who attended a social networking event at the Waterway hotel. Adam Barlow was one of the attendees and he brought along his uncle Daniel Osbourne, wanting to bring him out of himself out of grieving after the death of his wife Sinead the previous October.
Adam introduced Daniel to Jacinta but a clumsy and too-hastily proffered handshake from him resulted in him touching her rather inappropriately. Jacinta recognised the genuine error which Adam compensated for by buying them champagne. Later, as Adam regaled Jacinta and others with the story of a case of woman with extremely modified pictures who had sued a dating website after seventeen unsuccessful encounters, Daniel moped at the bar where he met Nicky Wheatley who he fell for, even after discovering that she was a professional escort.
