Nessa Warner moved to Inverness with her boyfriend in May 2016. Later in the year her son Alex made the decision to go and live with his mother and planned to take the train, although Roy Cropper offered to drive him there. In April 2021 Alex was forced to go and live with his mother at her insistence after he had been subjected to abuse on social media after Cathy was exposed for making mistaken comments doubting that a fund set up in Oliver Battersby's name was being used appropriately by the late child's father Steve McDonald.
