Ian Kelsey (born 17th December 1966 in York) appeared on Coronation Street intermittently between August 2016 and October 2017 as Harvey McArdle (although the character was credited as "Vinny Ashford" throughout).
Having began working life as an apprentice train carriage builder, he trained at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre in his home city and graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Theatre.
Probably best known for his roles of Dave Glover in Emmerdale from 1994 to 1997, Patrick Spiller in Casualty from 1999 to 2001 and Howard Bellamy in Doctors from 2010 to 2015, his other credits include roles in Men Behaving Badly, Touching Evil, Murder in Mind, Holby City, Down to Earth, Blue Murder, Where the Heart Is, Hotel Babylon, Desperados, The Bill, Twirlywoos, Lovesick, Moving On, Wuthering Heights, Innocent and The Suspect, along with the films Black Beauty and The Adventures of Sleepy the Magical Bear: The Movie.
On stage, he appeared in productions of The Secret Garden, So Jest End, Chicago, Grease, Pippin, The Shawshank Redemption, The Rise and Fall of Little Voice, Kes, Same Time Next Year, Christmas with the Stars, Legally Blonde, The Verdict and September in the Rain.
While on the other side of the camera, he also penned an episode of Doctors.
