Ian Jentle appeared in Coronation Street in March 1985 as Tilsley's Garage customer Mr Crompton.

He also appeared in Churchill's People, Clayhanger, Shogun, Ellis Island, The Bill, EastEnders, Campion and as Josef Goebbels in the World War II drama War and Remembrance.

Stage work includes roles in Gulliver's Travels, Bristol Ditty or 600 All Out, The Hollow Crown, Twelfth Night, The Curse of the Werewolf and Julius Caesar.

On radio he was heard in The Old Law, a 1989 production for Radio 3's Friday Play slot.

Mr Jentle started to lose his sight in the 1980s due to contracting the condition Stargardt's macular dystrophy and is now chairman of Extant, a blind people’s performing arts company, as well as being a trustee for Disability Action and a governor for Sadler's Wells Theatre.
