Ian Hastings (born 1951 in Farnworth, Lancashire) appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: firstly in January 1976 as John Lane, a disturbed man who stalked Gail Potter; and he returned to the programme between June and July 1989 as Councillor Steve Rafferty, a colleague of Deirdre Barlow.
His other credits include Sam, Village Hall, Survivors, Crown Court, The Spoils of War, Brookside, Prime Suspect and The Bill, along with the films It Shouldn't Happen to a Vet and Give My Regards to Broad Street.
On stage, he appeared in productions of The Prince of Homburg, The Schoolmistress, Macbeth, Twelfth Night. He began his post as Associate Director at Bristol Old Vic Theatre in 1991 and was the Artistic Director at Dukes Theatre, Lancaster between 1999 and 2007.
