Hugh Cross (born "Cecil Hugh Cross" on 24th September 1925 in London, died 14th May 1989 in Surrey) appeared on Coronation Street between September and October 1968 as Detective Inspector and later the newly-promoted Detective Chief Inspector Castle. He made a return to the role in December 1970.
His other credits include roles in Starr and Company, Emergency-Ward 10, The Vise, The Cheaters, The Men from Room 13, The Desperate People, Martin Chuzzlewit, Orlando, This Way for Murder, Pride and Prejudice, City '68, The Queen Street Gang, The Flaxton Boys, War & Peace and Just William.
On stage, he appeared in productions of Quiet Wedding, As You Like It, Twelfth Night, Macbeth, Titus Andronicus, The Tattooed Lady, Guilty Party and Hostile Witness.
