The Hostess was employed at the Viaduct Sporting Club which opened for business on 1st April 1964 in the basement of Elliston's Raincoat Factory. On the opening night, Elsie Tanner walked out of her job as a croupier when she discovered that owner Laurie Frazer, with whom she had been in a relationship for several months, was married. The next night the Hostess asked one of the customers, Mr Harvey, if he wanted another drink and she passed a message on from him to Lori that the customers were keen for the game of roulette to get started.
A few weeks later she crossed words with Elsie when the former employee caught up with her on the threshold of the club and asked her to fetch Dennis Tanner out as she wanted a word with him. The hostess was at a loss to understand why Elsie couldn't go into the club and speak to him herself and was catty when Elsie told her that she would rather catch pneumonia.
