Hilary Jane Tones (born March 1960 in Hertford) appeared on Coronation Street in September 1990 as a girl in a wine bar, whose date with Newton & Ridley's chief executive Nigel Ridley was interrupted by newly-sacked Rovers' barmaid, Tina Fowler.

She graduated from the Central School of Speech and Drama in 1985.

Her other credits include roles in Silent Witness, Picking up the Pieces, Body Story, Heartbeat, The 10th Kingdom, London's Burning, Judge John Deed, Doctors, The Bill, Holby City, Casualty, Wire in the Blood, Criminal Justice and EastEnders, along with the films The Great Ecstasy of Robert Carmichael and Bliss!.

On stage, she appeared in productions of Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, The Silent Woman and Have for the Royal Shakespeare Company and The Liberation of Skopje, Macbeth, Measure for Measure, Pericles and Blue Stockings for the Globe Theatre Company. Other works include BodyClock and Moon Tiger.
