Harry Burton was the son of Lilian Burton and brother of Amy Burton.
Harry was an ex-soldier who had lost an arm during the war. In 1992 his niece Vera Duckworth recalled how Harry would go missing on the same day every year and be scarcely seen by his wife Eileen for weeks on end afterwards. Eileen eventually discovered that Harry had been regularly visiting the sea life centre during his period of disappearance, explaining why he always stunk of fish when he returned.
Vera naively assumed her tales of Harry's peculiar behaviour would be a comfort to her friend Ivy Brennan and convince her that she just needed to give estranged husband Don time to return to her but Ivy found it an unwanted distraction.
