Graham Wright was a customer whose car was supposedly fixed at Webster’s Garage but he returned to say that within minutes of picking it up after supposed repairs he’d had to pull over on the motorway as the steering felt dodgy and he then discovered that all the wheel nuts were still undone.
Tommy Harris had been the mechanic on the car but his work had started to suffer when he had taken to drink following daughter Katy eloping with twice-her-age Martin Platt and wife Angela refusing to join him in disowning her. Kevin Webster, who had already given Tommy several warnings, sacked him on the spot.
