Graham Gill (born in Manchester) appeared on Coronation Street in March 1995 as Gavin Moss, a hairdresser who worked in a gentleman's salon where Reg Holdsworth went to have a toupee fitted.
Originally active in the amateur dramatic societies 'Up North', he worked part-time in The Jacobean Banquets at Worsley Old Hall, Manchester as a court herald. The manager there was also an actor and coached him through to auditions in London. His day job at the time was as a wood machinist in Salford. Leaving the area in 1981, he trained at the Mountview Theatre School.
As well as a prolific CV of stage work, he has also appeared in numerous television and film roles including Hands of a Murderer for Yorkshire Television, Seeing a Beauty Queen Home for Thames Television, and Timeline for PBS, America as well as various commercials and corporate training videos. In 1993 he went over to the other side of the footlights and became Resident Director of the first national tour of Les Miserables starting at the Palace Theatre Manchester. He then came back to London as an Associate of the production.
After eighteen months, Graham then moved on to assist Sam Mendes on his production of Oliver! at the London Palladium where he remained as Resident Director. As Associate Director, he then directed the British national tour of Oliver! culminating in a season at the Princess of Wales Theatre, Toronto. After Canada, Graham co-directed the West End musical Hard Times which transferred from Windsor to Theatre Royal, Haymarket. Whilst also Associate Director of the highly acclaimed Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Commonwealth Games, Manchester, 2002.
