George Villiers Little (born 6th November 1928 in Bradford, died 8th January 2022 in Telford) appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: in October 1963 and July 1964 he appeared as a Knife Sharpener; and he returned to the programme in March 1980 as a magazine salesman.
He amassed many television credits over the years including the series Emergency-Ward 10, The Avengers, several parts in Z Cars, The Saint, Doctor Who, I, Claudius, When the Boat Comes In, All Creatures Great and Small, Poirot and Footballers' Wives, along with a regular role on Emmerdale Farm as the Reverend Edward Ruskin in 1973.
On the big screen, he was in Fiddler on the Roof and Evita.
His numerous stage roles include RSC productions of Twelfth Night, Macbeth, Titus Andronicus, Hamlet, The Merchant of Venice, Measure for Measure and Toad of Toad Hall. Other works include Hotel Paradiso, Richard II, Saint Joan, Chin-Chin, Beat the Retreat, Catch My Soul, The Philanderer, Peril at End House, Cluedo, Leonardo and Goodnight Mr Tom.
His daughter is the acclaimed violinist Tasmin Little.
