George Irving (born 6th May 1954 in South Shields) appeared in Coronation Street in February and March 1988 as Nick Cavanagh, the joint-owner of the Weatherfield Recorder.

After joining the South Shields youth theatre, he trained at Birmingham university before joining the National Youth Theatre. He is best known for his role as Anton Meyer in Casualty, a part he played for three years, but he has also appeared in Village Hall, When the Boat Comes In, This Year Next Year, Target, The Sweeney, The Professionals, Angels, Shoestring, Bergerac , Crown Court, Juliet Bravo, Dempsey and Makepeace, Boon, EastEnders, Bulman, Inspector Morse, Sitting Pretty, Peak Practice, The Bill, a regular role in Dangerfield as D.I. Ken Jackson, Wing and a Prayer, The Tudors, Doctors and The Royal.

On film, he has appeared in Antonio’s Breakfast and Daementia while an extensive set of theatre credits includes Hamlet, The French Lieutenant's Woman, Ghosts, All My Sons, Landscape, The Extremists, The Piper, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Gibraltar, Julius Caesar, The Oresteia and Kenny Morgan.

Radio work includes The Monday Play, Afternoon Theatre and The Orchestra.
