Gemma Davenport was the daughter of Ian and Justine Davenport. She attended Oakhill School and became good friends with Rosie Webster.
Rosie decided to bring Gemma to Sophie Webster's 10th birthday at 13 Coronation Street. During the party, Rosie's mum Sally grilled Gemma about her family, asking about how big a house she lived in and what her father did. Gemma failed to impress Sally and irritated her by staying over at the Websters' without her knowledge.
While having tea at the Websters, Gemma revealed that her mother had been crying at home. This made Sally feel guilty about her affair with Gemma's father Ian.
Gemma rang Rosie Webster to say that she suspected that her father was having an affair. Sally heard the phone call between the two and told Ian to put the affair on hold for a while. When Tommy Harris suspected of having an affair with Martin Platt, their suspicions continued as the two thought she was having an affair with Ian instead.
