Gas Street is a street located in Weatherfield. In 1966, a young Paul Cheveski fell into Weatherfield Canal through an unfenced part of the street. In 1978, Bet Lynch considered renting a flat on the street until Alf Roberts offered her lodgings at 15a Coronation Street.

Gas Street took a direct hit during an air raid on 22nd December 1940, completely destroying several houses as well as the shelter where several of the residents were sheltering. Sidney Hayes was killed as were Arthur, Alice, Iris, Nancy, Freda, Ethel, Connie, Polly and Jack Grimshaw.

Ray Langton was born at 2 Gas Street, where his father, mother Mary and his sister Janice also lived. 18 Gas Street was the childhood home of Elsie Tanner and all of her siblings. One business on Gas Street was the Kinky Kat Club, where Bobby Fritz, Pip Mistral, Monique, Arlette and Bettina worked during the 1960s.
