Frank Makepiece was the son of Alfred and Ivy Makepiece. His family was the first to inhabit 11 Coronation Street after it was built in 1902. Ralph was six years old when they moved into the house, the eldest of the Makepiece sons.
Along with his brother Ralph, Frank signed up with the Lancashire Fusiliers in 1914. He never returned home as he was blinded in a gas attack and killed when a shell exploded and hit the camp hospital.
