Sam Blakeman[]

Is up to 51 appearances. No sign of him leaving anytime soon. Time for a promotion? David (talk) 16:41, 25 July 2021 (UTC)

Definitely. I was holding off creating this discussion myself as it is highly likely that Grace Vickers and George Shuttleworth will reach 50 appearances this week and, as those two seem like no-brainers to promote too, I was thinking that it could be easier for Karen (or whoever does the updates) to do them all at once. RadMatter (talk) 16:49, 25 July 2021 (UTC)
Grace hit 50 appearances tonight. Potentially she and Glory could receive an upgrade together? RadMatter (talk) 20:22, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
No. I'd also hold back on Grace until the storyline unfolds furtherJtomlin1uk (talk) 20:45, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
Considering Glory has only made one appearance, it's far too premature for consideration. I also agree with John, the current Michael & Grace up-in-the-air storyline could go either way... Will go with the consensus flow as far as Sam is concerned Karen2310 (talk) 21:55, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
We had this discussion only two months ago, and Glory has made the grand total of one appearance since then. Given how sporadic Grace's appearances are, I agree we should wait. David (talk) 21:14, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
I did see the discussion from two months ago, but I saw that it had been concluded that child characters like Glory were "subject to review" and that the reason she wasn't upgraded after her first episode (unlike Bertie and the quads) was because she was only the daughter of one regular character. Therefore, with the potential for Grace to be upgraded I thought it acceptable to have Glory's situation reviewed too.
But I do understand the points made and it is best to wait and see (although I will point out that Kate Spencer's social media pages show that she is still filming regularly as Grace). RadMatter (talk) 21:40, 26 July 2021 (UTC)

Revisiting George and Grace[]

Now that both are over 50 appearances, time to upgrade these two characters? George is coming up on a year, owns a business that is seen regularly, and has been involved in multiple storylines (Eileen, Todd's redemption, multiple funerals). He's at least as much of a regular as Archie was. Grace has also reached the milestone and while her place in the show isn't as secure, she does live in the street and will have been around for two years in November. David (talk) 20:29, 12 August 2021 (UTC)

I'd agree to the promotion of both characters. Karen2310 (talk) 20:37, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
Agreed.Jtomlin1uk (talk) 20:46, 12 August 2021 (UTC)

Corey Brent[]

He has had 60 appearances so far and looks like he isn't going anywhere due to the verdict with the character's court case. Is it time he was upgraded to regular, he has been quite major the past year. NathanJohnson (talk) 19:47, 20 September 2021 (UTC)

No, I want to wait on this one and see if he becomes a long running guest with a defined ending like Nathan Curtis.Jtomlin1uk (talk) 20:05, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
Agreed. At this stage we don't even know if he'll appear again. His only appearances since June were for the trial. Compare with Kelly, who has continued to appear while in prison. David (talk) 20:35, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
It appears that Corey and Kelly were brought back as regular characters in April 2020, but their returns were greatly impacted by the pandemic. I suspect that should the original plans have remained in place Nina and Asha's brief relationship would have aired last year, rather than being rushed through for the first couple of months this year, and then we would have had a lot longer with Nina and Seb as a couple this year before the hate crime storyline. Therefore I think that Corey was intended to appear far more than he actually ended up doing. It should also be noted that quite a few of Corey's appearances have fell on the doubled-up Friday episodes so, had that not been the case, he would have appeared in more episodes too (I imagine that the actor would be paid for these episodes as if they were individuals?).
Not sure how deep we are allowed to discuss spoilers on discussion pages so please remove this last point if it speaks out of turn. It is known that both Corey and Grace will be leaving the show later this year in climactic ends to their individual storylines. I see Corey and Grace as equal characters, what with them both being long-running villains who only appeared on a recurring basis until January this year - currently Corey has appeared more than she has. I think that they should be categorised as the same whether it be regular or minor. I would personally opt for recording them both as regular characters due to them having involvement in several storylines and for the sheer amount of characters that they have interacted with/affected during their time on the show (more so on Corey's part as Grace has remained more in the Bailey orbit). PoolsideJazz (talk) 22:22, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
Maximus Evans has revealed in an interview with the Metro that he had a two-year contract.[1] PoolsideJazz (talk) 08:27, 25 October 2021 (UTC)
Even if Corey was intended to appear more when he came back in 2020, that isn't what happened and reality takes precedence over original plans. I think Kelly is a better point of comparison than Grace here - both she and Corey first appeared in 2019 but while Kelly has been given roots in the street and developed, appearing frequently in prison scenes, Corey has remained at a distance and we only see him when the plot requires it.

Ronnie Bailey[]

50 appearances since February. Has lived in the street for most of that time. What do we think? David (talk) 16:47, 30 October 2021 (UTC)

Sounds good to me! Karen2310 (talk) 09:19, 4 November 2021 (UTC)
Agreed!Jtomlin1uk (talk) 09:54, 4 November 2021 (UTC)
Excellent! I'll make the changes. David (talk) 19:54, 4 November 2021 (UTC)

Dee-Dee, Glenda, Aaron, Leo, Stephen and Wendy[]

Canvassing opinion on these characters.

  • Dee-Dee and Glenda: Despite being recent additions, they are family of current regulars and were both parachuted into jobs in the street (not yet in Dee-Dee's case, but it seems highly likely that she'll replace Imran at the solicitors). The other Baileys were immediately regulars, could we give them the same treatment? If you guys would rather wait until they hit 50 appearances, I'll go along with it though as I don't feel strongly either way.
  • Aaron is on 39 appearances so I think we're as well waiting until he hits 50 now.
  • Leo barely appeared in the first half of the year but had a surge before his death, ending on 66 and exactly one year in the programme. I'd say he just scrapes being a regular.
  • Stephen is on 56 appearances this year alone, and his storyline's just getting started - a definite regular in my opinion.
  • Despite her history on the programme, Wendy has only made sporadic appearances since her return and not enough to be upgraded. Guest.

Thoughts? And please add anyone I've forgotten. David (talk) 15:18, 1 October 2022 (UTC)

Totally in support of all above - with the exception of waiting until Dee-Dee, Glenda and Aaron all hit 50 for uniformity. I Don't mind doing all the update work tomorrow for both Leo and Stephen if consensus is such. Karen2310 (talk) 16:20, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
What about Dylan considering he has been on and off for the past few years but does now seem to be settling down with Sean in Weatherfield. Beckfast101 (talk) 21:50, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
Good shout. He's only made 16 appearances this year, with no proper storyline yet. One to wait and see. David (talk) 07:54, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
Agree to upgrade all except Aaron and Dylan (for now)Jtomlin1uk (talk) 10:57, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
Aaron has now passed 50 appearances. I think we can safely say he'll be in the show for another nine months at least. Happy to upgrade if we're all agreed. David (talk) 19:25, 14 November 2022 (UTC)
Agreed! Karen2310 (talk) 19:44, 14 November 2022 (UTC)
AgreedJtomlin1uk (talk) 18:42, 15 November 2022 (UTC)

Cheers, I'll make the changes. David (talk) 19:37, 15 November 2022 (UTC)

Glenda's at 55 appearances now and a mainstay at the Rovers. Regular? David (talk) 18:47, 26 January 2023 (UTC)

Most definitely! Karen2310 (talk) 19:28, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
As an addendum, maybe we could also agree on Dee-Dee at this point? 41 appearances to date, but saves opening another discussion in a fortnight or so's time. Happy to make all the changes prior to the end of month stats I'll be posting on Tuesday. Karen2310 (talk) 11:36, 28 January 2023 (UTC)
I'd agree on promoting Dee-Dee and can make those changes now if you're both agreeable. David (talk) 11:05, 29 January 2023 (UTC)
Good stuff! Karen2310 (talk) 12:41, 29 January 2023 (UTC)

Griff[]

Is Griff worth upgrading to a regular now that he has reached to 50 appearances threshold or is it better off waiting to see how long he lasts considering he only really has the one storyline. Beckfast101 (talk) 18:00, 26 December 2022 (UTC)

No, he's definitely a guest. The chances of him moving into the street are less than zero. David (talk) 18:56, 31 December 2022 (UTC)

Eliza[]

I got a question; should Eliza be changed into rslegular character, not a guest character because she still appear the show after nearly a year and also about 43 (+3; 46) episodes? (Ednasharon24534) 16:18, 11 August 2023 (UTC).

Cassie Plummer[]

Cassie has now reached 54 appearances (48 as of the mid-December updates). Now working at the garage and living at No.9 and seems to be sticking around. Regular status? Happy to do the necessary upon agreement! Karen2310 (talk) 13:50, 29 December 2023 (UTC)

Agreed!Jtomlin1uk (talk) 16:00, 29 December 2023 (UTC)
Agree. Clear-cut regular. David (talk) 16:26, 29 December 2023 (UTC)
