The Fortune Teller, advertising under the name of "Gypsy Smith" was a woman in a booth on Blackpool promenade who read the fortunes of Minnie Caldwell and Ena Sharples when they visited the resort as part of a coach trip to see the illuminations. She told Minnie that she would have a "visitor from the skies - like a bolt out of the blue" and then told Ena that she was going on "a long, lonely journey" with a long separation from her friends. Subsequently Ena missed the coach back to Coronation Street and had to make her way back on a potato lorry. Minnie's prediction also came true when a slate fell off the roof of No.13 and hit her on the head.
