Finn Chambers was the son of Lydia Chambers, a young woman who had had an affair with Adam Barlow when the two studied at Edinburgh University between 2009 and 2012. She had viewed Adam as the love of her life whereas she was just the latest in a long line of conquests and she was understandably devastated when she fell pregnant, and he curtly told her to abort the child before dumping her.
The two crossed paths again in December 2021 when Lydia was the PA to a client at Underworld where Adam's wife Sarah was a senior manager. Knowing nothing of the connection, Sarah befriended Lydia who hid her devastation when reintroduced to Adam that he claimed not to remember her, though the sight of Finn playing in Victoria Street caught him up short as a reminder of his past unruly love life.
Lydia settled in the area and enrolled Finn at Bessie Street School but the reminder of her past hurt caused her to revenge herself on Adam. She claimed that his behaviour had led her never to trust or be with any man again and she determined to "dissect" his life in the same way he had done to her, stripping him of his wife, job and home in a well-orchestrated plan. Unfortunately, things went too far and a short tussle ended up with Adam in Weatherfield General after a fall, making Lydia come to her senses. Guilt-ridden, and about to be arrested for her actions, she did an about-turn and now claimed to Sarah that she had aborted the baby meaning that Adam wasn't Finn's father, though this went against all the previous claims that she had so earnestly made.
