Finn was one of a number of community service offenders who were helping to paint the Jamila House community centre in July 2018.
When one of the service co-ordinators Billy Mayhew asked David Platt for a hand moving a table, Finn mocked his sexuality, suggesting that he and David were more than friends.
Rather than standing by Billy, at the next community service day, David joined in with Finn by making homophobic and suggestive comments about the vicar. David told Finn that his back would stay firmly against the wall and that it wouldn't have been the first time Billy had said to cover something up to another man.
Billy later had a one-to-one with David in which he asked for an apology after being the subject of homophobic remarks. After some hesitation, David opened up on how he had been feeling after Josh Tucker's attack on him. By the next community payback day, David dismissed Finn's comments by calling him a troll and telling him to crawl back under his bridge.
