Finlay Scott was a policeman who interviewed Daisy Midgeley when she made a complaint of harassment against mentally-ill stalker Justin Rutherford. For several weeks he had been bombarding her with texts, despite her changing her repeated attempts to block him, in which he declared his love for her and was under the delusion that she felt the same way and that the two were pledged together for life. PC Scott was the wrong person for Daisy to speak to: he hadn't read a previous complaint that she had filed and was cavalier about the matter, stating that the police couldn't arrest every man who took a shine to a pretty girl. He also tried to brush the matter off by saying there had been no escalation since the previous complaint, but Daisy pointed out a text every minute of every day was indeed an escalation. After going through the matter once more, PC Scott said he would file another report but he wasn't able to arrest Justin as the law hadn't been broken, even when Daisy voiced her fears that Justin might get violent with her.
Another shock awaited Daisy when she returned home: PC Scott himself had become one of her social media followers and had gone through and liked all of her holiday photographs.
Getting more and more pressured, Daisy snapped when she saw Justin with flowers on Victoria Street and assaulted him, only to find he was on his way to the Shuttleworth's funeral parlour where his recently deceased mother was in repose. Justin reported her for assault and PC Jess Heywood took her to the station for questioning. There she was shocked to hear that her colleague had himself become stalker-like in his behaviour and Daisy's allegation gained credence when PC Scott burst into their interview to say that Justin had withdrawn his complaint, but went on to say that Daisy did herself no favours by plastering her social life all over the media. Aghast, Jess herself her heard him tell Daisy she needed to “calm down” and afterwards reported her colleague who was given an official reprimand for his behaviour.
