Eve Pearce (born 17th April 1929 in Aberdeen) appeared on Coronation Street in two roles: as Amalgamated Steel secretary Miss Franklin in October 1961 and she returned to the programme between June and July 1967 as Betty Lawson, matriarch of the family who temporarily squatted at 3 Coronation Street.

Born to a poor family, she was brought up in a one-bedroomed tenement. Her mother passed away when she was seven years old, and by the age of twelve her father had remarried. They moved to London and she began her acting career in the early 1960s.

In a long list of credits, her work includes roles in Kipps, Theatre 625, ITV Play of the Week, City 68', Z Cars, Dr. Finlay's Casebook, Please Sir!, Crown Court, The Fenn Street Gang, Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads?, Dixon of Dock Green, Beryl's Lot, Lytton's Diary, Brookside, Taggart, Midsomer Murders, Funland, Torchwood, The Bill, Holby City, Doctors and WPC 56.
