Ethel Leathers was the daughter of George and Nancy, and sister to Vera and Ida Leathers.
Following Ida's death in September 1961, Ethel wrote to brother-in-law Frank Barlow to inform him that she and her husband George would be unable to attend the funeral due to George's poor health.
Ken Barlow was able to recollect vivid memories as a ten-year old, of once visiting his aunt and uncle, and their garden with a stream into which he'd fallen. Frank recalled that George and Ethel were living on a farm near Middlesbrough at that time and he, Ida and Ken had only been up there to visit with them for a couple of hours.
