The unnamed Estate Agent called round to give a valuation on 6 Coronation Street when Des Barnes - who wanted to make a fresh start away from Weatherfield with new girlfriend Lisa Duckworth - put the house on the market in January 1993.
Although the estate agent was quick to point out that the house and garden was rather on the small side, she was nevertheless somewhat impressed with the "state-of-the-art" kitchen. Whilst in the middle of their appointment, housekeeper Phyllis Pearce answered the telephone to another estate agent who was also keen to offer a valuation. Sensing the competition, she told Des that it was a very attractive property and her company had a good track-record of sales (even during the recession) - with Des agreeing to the sale with the company who was quickest to find a buyer.
