Esmerelda Street was the former home of Florrie Lindley before she moved to Coronation Street in December 1960. Described by Ena Sharples as being "very bay-window", its exact location in relation to Coronation Street is not known.
Sally Metcalfe's aunt Velda lived on Esmerelda Street.

Deirdre Barlow mentions the street in Episode 7 of the internet spin-off Ken and Deirdre's Bedtime Stories when she relates how Blanche Hunt would read out the daily obituaries in the paper and say things like "Ooh, Avis McCormick from Esmerelda Street's had her last perm."
