Plot[]

Part One: Daniel swears on Bertie's life that the kiss meant nothing. Sinead makes him take Bertie out of the room so that he doesn't see her upset. Sarah convinces Max that the video is fake. Sinead summons all of her strength to get out of bed and have Craig eject Daniel from the flat. Full of self-hatred, Daniel goes off with a bottle of vodka. The ordeal leaves Sinead trembling, leading Craig to fetch Dr Gaddas. Audrey tells Bethany she must act normally and forget what happened. Imran sees the incriminating video when a colleague stumbles across it online. David admits he was there when Josh was stabbed but denies committing the act himself. Sinead is at an all-time low and tells Dr Gaddas she wants it over and done with. Gaddas makes her see that Bertie needs her for as long as he can have her. Peter, Carla and Simon return from Venice just as Craig confronts Bethany on the street, telling her that she disgusts him.

Part Two: Imran and Adam find Daniel slumped in the Victoria Street ginnel. Daniel refuses their sympathy and tells Adam what he did. Adam defends his uncle; he's in mourning and not thinking straight. Daniel saunters off and Adam loses him. Shona tells Marion that the riot was in a different wing to David's when she visits to collect Max. The Barlows search for Daniel, worried about what he might do. Abe assures David that nobody's talking. Sarah finds out what her daughter's been up to when Tracy has a go at her in the street. Shona believes David is guilty and threatens to finish with him. Kirk and Beth take over Sinead's care. Kirk looks after Bertie while Beth lies with a worn out Sinead. At the canalside in Castlefield, Daniel collapses in a drunken heap.

Notes[]

  • This episode was shot in a higher frame rate than usual in order to give the world of Weatherfield a slightly different look as Sinead Osbourne nears death. The break from convention was explained by producer Iain MacLeod thusly: "The idea was to give that slightly surreal feeling that I think most people might relate to – when something as cataclysmic as that happens, the whole world seems to look different." [1].
  • Josh Tucker (Ryan Clayton) appears in the video on Max Turner's phone, but not anywhere else in the episode. He is not credited.
  • Kate Waters was credited as the Fight Arranger on this episode.
  • TV Times synopsis: Daniel hits the bottle following Sinead's rejection; and Craig turns on a devastated Bethany.
  • Viewing Figures: First UK broadcast: 6,488,690 viewers (14th place).
