[[Jim Foster]], the bus driver who hit [[Ida Barlow|Ida]], wants to see [[Frank Barlow|Frank]] because he can't sleep. [[Valerie Barlow|Valerie]] reveals her parents need her in Glasgow. [[Ken Barlow|Ken]] gets an interview at Amalgamated Steel. [[Dennis Tanner|Dennis]] prefers [[Walter Fletcher]] to [[Bill Gregory|Bill]]. [[Florrie Lindley|Florrie]] worries about the new supermarket in Rosamund Street; her regulars test out the supermarket prices. The manager, [[Mr. Jackson]] has a run-in with [[Ena Sharples|Ena]] who finds it too 'new'. [[Ivan Cheveski|Ivan]] decides he shall be naturalised and thinks of changing his name. Jim Foster, the bus driver who hit Ida, calls into the Corner Shop to find out where the Barlows live. Ken, recognising him from the inquest, tells him they would be grateful if he stayed away. Foster explains he can't sleep at nights and he will be back to speak to Frank tomorrow. Elsie brings Bill home after the cinema.
