Plot[]
Part One: Jack persuades Annie not to confront Lucille about what she's doing going out with Dave, saying she's hard a time recently. Val isn't impressed when Ken produces homemade muesli for breakfast. He examines the meagre change in his pocket. Annie changes her mind and pushes Jack too far when she accuses him of not caring about Lucille. He throws a crate of ales across the bar. Lucille easily evades Annie's questions. Dave realises that Lucille didn't tell anyone why he was taking her out, when it was merely to show her the betting business at the dog track. Elsie and Len find out the truth from him, also discovering that Annie doesn't know about her ward's new job. Albert changes his mind and stays in No.1 but puts Effie's rent up by 2/6 a week because of her decorating has made the house worth more. She retaliates her deducting the cost of the wallpaper. Stan gets a contract cleaning the church windows. Emily loses patience with the Reverend James's constant complaints about his congregation size.
Part Two: Ken makes risotto for Val alone, hiding from her that he didn't have the money to make enough for two. Minnie knocks Stan's price increase down and gets him to agree to do No.5's inside as well. Ena approves of her tactics. Albert eats in the Rovers rather than brave Effie. A hungry Ken has no money to buy a pint. Forced into a corner, Lucille tells Jack and Annie where she's working. Emily and the Reverend hear football fans passing the church before they leave for the theatre. Ken admits to Val that he's exhausted the housekeeping, and he gives up the cooking. Val gives Hilda the remains of their fancy ingredients. Elsie warns Dave that people are talking about him and Lucille. Minnie suggests Effie gets a pet for company if Albert continues to stay away. Annie isn't pleased to overhear Lucille and Dave making plans to go out for a drink again. Reverend James and Emily return from the theatre to find the side chapel ransacked. The vicar breaks down in tears.
