Plot[]
Part One: Gordon enjoyed himself at his boss's house last night. He asks Dickie and Audrey to join him and Lucille for a meal to celebrate his exam success on Monday and she is surprised that he doesn't want it to be just for the two of them. Dave reports to Ena, Elsie and Emily that the police have found Minnie, and she is in hospital suffering from exposure after sleeping out for two nights. Effie asks Len for an estimate for some improvements to No.1. Lucille refuses to go out with Ray, knowing his motives are questionable. Gordon doesn't like it when Hilda spreads despondent gossip about Minnie. Maggie thinks he's getting cynical. Minnie begs the nurse and orderly not to tell anyone where she is. Len passes on the news to Ena that Minnie was found on a park bench by a policeman. Visited by Reverend James, Ena begins to recover her old grumpy self as she sets off to visit. Ena arrives at the hospital and berates her old friend for her behaviour. She is shocked when Minnie tells her to go away.
Part Two: Lucille complains to Len about Ray, but he realises that it's Gordon she's actually unhappy about. Elsie is scared that her future life could be as empty as Minnie's. Len assures her that he'll always be there for her. Minnie tells Ena that she ran away because she didn't like the unpleasantness she was stirring up. She refuses to answer further questions. Hilda boasts that she's thinking of having No.13 extended. Lucille is unhappy to find out that the Flemings are joining their night out. Gordon is equally unenthusiastic when she talks about their new house. Dave visits a pleased Minnie. She asks him to make up with Ena and agrees when tells her he wants to put a limit on her bets. Emily tells Reverend James that her aspirations in life are out of reach for her. Hilda admits that Stan is against an extension. Ena arranges for Minnie to go and stay with Henry Foster and resents Maggie suggesting that she is interfering again. Gordon admits to Maggie that he doesn't want to marry Lucille.
